Sedoretu Exchange 2023
Sep. 29th, 2023 01:08 amHello, creator!
I'm so excited to see what you come up with for this exchange! Hope you have a great time with it. Prompts are here if you want them, but if you have another idea that's inspiring you I'm happy to see that too.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me through the mods. I'm also sincereously on AO3.
General fic likes:
Worldbuilding (especially magical, religious and cultural worldbuilding)
Unusual formats, including in-universe documents and IF/Choose Your Own Adventure
Canon divergence
Outsider POV
Dramatic irony
Moments of quiet intimacy during breaks in the action (especially good for missing scenes in between what we see in canon)
Slowly building intimacy/respect together - slow burn in general
Taking care of injured people
Hair care, washing, and styling as bonding
Forced proximity (undercover together, trapped together, accidental/arranged marriage, fake dating, only one bed, etc.)
Elaborate plans that may or may not work out
Improvising new plans as you go along
"That's an extremely bad plan, of course I'm in" type situations and interpersonal dynamics
Getting in way over your head but throwing yourself headfirst into the plan anyway
Repressed characters learning to let go
Struggling against temptation/the Dark Side
Five + one things structure
General DNWs:
Death of requested characters*
Non-canonical child death
Setting change AUs (ex. coffeeshop, high school, modern AU, etc.)
Time travel AUs
Explicitly stated sexuality labels for characters whose sexuality is not canonically defined
Formalized dom/sub relationships
Ageplay
Raceplay
Omegaverse
Mpreg
Excretory kinks
Rape/noncon (dubcon - sex pollen with both/all characters dosed, sex in arranged marriages, fuck-or-die, etc. - are fine, as are references to canonical rape/noncon.)**
Underage under 15 and unrequested non-canonical ships with 20+ year age gaps (mentions of canon examples are fine, but please don't make them the focus of the fic)***
Cross-gen incest
Animal abuse
Hopeless endings (endings can be dark, but not without any shred of hope)
*For ASOIAF, canonical deaths are fine.
**This DNW is waived for Joanna/Tywin/Aerys/Rhaella.
***For Joanna/Tywin/Aerys/Rhaella, this DNW is modified to "DNW underage under 13".

Requested ship(s): Chandler Bing/Monica Geller/Rachel Green/Joey Tribbiani
Prompts and Other Information:
- For most of my prompts I have Monica and Joey as Evening and Rachel and Chandler as Morning, but you can absolutely change it or mix it up depending on your own moiety worldbuilding. I'm also okay with Ross and/or Phoebe as uncle and/or aunt to this sedoretu or forming different sedoretus of their own or staying single.
- Monica's looking for love but it seems like every guy and woman she meets is either Evening or already in a sedoretu with an Evening woman; Rachel keeps trying to anchor herself in a new life and it doesn't help that Ross keeps attaching himself to extremely ill-advised sedoretus. It takes some time to figure out what they really want is each other, and that maybe Chandler and Joey might be willing to give a full sedoretu a whirl. (I can also see where this plays into Chandler's fear of commitment - sure, he and Joey have been a couple for ages, but couples aren't the same as a "real" marriage, and a sedoretu is a serious next step).
- Alternatively, it's Chandler/Monica and Rachel/Joey who've been slowly drifting into couplehood, and now that they've each formed a pair they think it's the right moment to test out a sedoretu. How do they balance out the four pairs of a marriage?
- Chandler and Monica do get married in Vegas, but they can't do it by themselves, so they drunkenly convince an equally-drunk Rachel and Joey to do it with them.
- When Rachel gets pregnant with Emma she decides she needs a family to help raise her, and Monica/Chandler/Joey have been unsuccessfully looking for a Morning woman to complete their sedoretu anyway, so why not? Feelings ensure from there.
Requested ship(s): Cersei Lannister/Jaime Lannister/Catelyn Tully/Ned Stark, Joanna Lannister/Tywin Lannister/Aerys Targaryen/Rhaella Targaryen, Maron Martell/Myriah Martell/Daeron II Targaryen/Daenerys Targaryen (sister of Daeron), Willam Dustin/Barbrey Ryswell/Brandon Stark/Lyanna Stark
Prompts and Other Information:
- The Targaryens canonically get to ignore the incest taboo - do they have similar privileges with moieties? (Do people who marry into Targaryen sedoretus get the same privilege)? Do Valyrians think of moieties in different ways than Westerosi do? Is moiety and sedoretu even a common concept outside Westeros? Within Westeros, was it a First Men thing that the Andals adopted, or an Andal introduction to the continent (and how does sedoretu and moiety interact with the Faith?), or even something Rhoynish that entered via Dorne? (In terms of backstory, I'm also good with Rule 63'ing or otherwise adjusting various family trees to make your desired moieties work out, most notably for Tywin and Joanna).
- Cersei/Jaime/Cat/Ned: beautiful dysfuction that may actually work out somehow. How do all of them learn to coexist with each other, especially if it's a matter of Cat and Ned becoming spouses to the heir of Casterly Rock and his golden sister? What do they feel for each other - resentment, exasperation, grudging respect, genuine respect, maybe eventually love? Do the married couples settle their differences with swordfights? Cersei and Jaime are committing actual blood incest - how do Cat and Ned react to that, especially if their own supposedly "moiety sibling" relationship is feeling less-than-platonic?
- Joanna/Tywin/Aerys/Rhaella: even bigger dysfunction that is almost certainly going to end in murder. Give me the semi-good times at the start when Aerys is flying high on getting what he wants and Joanna and Tywin are gaining the power they dream of and Rhaella's just glad to have a woman she likes and a man who's not quite as terrible as Aerys. Alternatively, give me the times toward the end as Aerys is going off the deep end and his spouses are trying to keep the kingdom and maybe their marriage together (or possibly finding more rapport with each other than him and plotting to put him out of the way to let them live as they want).
- Maron/Myriah/Daeron/Daenerys: the canonical peacemaking marriages drawn a bit closer together. Do the Dornish have their own ideas for sedoretus - was it a Dornish custom that Daeron and Daenerys adopted in the first place, or a Valyrian or Westerosi tradition that Maron and Myriah have to adjust to? How do the marriages balance the needs of the Seven Kingdoms and of Dorne by itself all in one marriage? There's a significant age gap between Daeron/Myriah and Daenerys (and it's not clear where Maron falls into that, but I headcanon him being closer to Daenerys' age) - how do they negotiate that? How does the marriage impact the course of the Blackfyre Rebellions?
- Willam/Barbrey/Brandon/Lyanna: for when Rickard's Ambitions aren't quite so Southron. (This could also pair with Cersei/Jaime/Catelyn/Ned above). How do they work as a unit and as individuals in terms of Northern politics, especially if Aerys deteriorates as per canon? How do they get along personally? Barbrey is absolutely a strong personality in canon and Brandon and Lyanna are canonically "wolf-blooded", so the potential for sparks (in both a good and bad way) are high. Lots of horse racing is a bonus! I also feels like this would be one of the happier possible outcomes for Lyanna, so that's another plus here.
Requested ship(s): Lando Calrissian/Leia Organa/Luke Skywalker/Han Solo, Mara Jade/Leia Organa/Luke Skywalker/Han Solo, Lando Calrissian/Mara Jade/Leia Organa/Han Solo
Ship DNW: Han/Mara. I do ship pretty much every other combination of these characters, regardless of moiety and/or blood ties, so feel free to explore that if you want. Otherwise, I'm very happy to have strong platonic relationships, although I'd prefer not leaning too hard on "we're the same moiety so the idea that we'd ever be into each other is obviously inconceivable and wrong and horrible" (unless they are into each other anyway and angsting about it, lol).
Don't worry too much about what parts of canon I have and haven't consumed - I like going down wiki rabbit holes and I don't care about spoilers. I'm open to a lot of different time periods and settings within canon, but I do strongly prefer that this story is set before any child of Han and Leia (Ben or Jacen) canonically falls to the dark side.
Prompts and Other Information:
- With Lando/Mara/Leia/Han, I'm also good with including Luke as an "uncle" who gets to be with the sedoretu spouses of the opposite moiety.
- Sedoretu worldbuilding: are sedoretus a common relationship form across the galaxy, or are they generally limited to specific planets or cultures? The possible class aspects of sedoretus are also interesting - maybe it's a royal Alderaanian tradition with strong ceremonial aspects and ties to Alderaanian culture, or maybe it's the "respectable" form of marriage that any "respectable" person (whether established or an up-and-comer) is expected to strive for, or maybe it's more common among lower-class people who need to build more and stronger ties among themselves to give each other aid in times of trouble. How important are the moieties from planet to planet, and do different planets have different expectations and stereotypes about Morning and Evening people (maybe something to do with different aspects or conceptions of the Force)? How well - or badly - does each individual character feel they fit into their moiety's assigned roles?
- Sedoretu get-together fic in general is great, especially as a way to highlight rapport and similarities (and differences) among all the different pairings, romantic and platonic. Who is the first person who comes up with the idea of a sedoretu? Was it a case of two couples trying each other out, or a trio looking for a fourth? Who was the last person or couple to be convinced in?
- Accidental marriage sedoretu and fake/undercover marriage sedoretu could be tremendous fun! Maybe they'd fly more under the radar as a sedoretu or maybe sedoretu is a unique but mandatory custom from a planet that Leia's trying to convince into the Rebellion/the New Republic, and either way they have to pull together to pull off the mission and finally figure out their feelings for each other.
- I'm very here for canon divergence too, and those divergences can go very very wild. Among other ideas: one or both twins raised by Vader, both twins growing up together either on Tatooine or Alderaan, Jedi Order never fell (how do Jedi think about sedoretu?), Alderaan is never destroyed (Leia and Mara being arranged into a marriage as a political ploy between the Empire and Alderaan has kind of grabbed me lately, and you could do some fun things with that + sedoretu), etc.
I'm so excited to see what you come up with for this exchange! Hope you have a great time with it. Prompts are here if you want them, but if you have another idea that's inspiring you I'm happy to see that too.
