Three Sentence Ficathon 2026
Feb. 12th, 2026 12:09 amWhile real life did add its own challenges, I still had a great time with Three Sentence Ficathon this year! Post 4 is still open to new prompts until February 15th.
My fills below:
any, any, mad honey
The bohemians of the Neath have spun out thousands of words on Prisoner's Honey - golden, luxurious, viscous, the bringer of dreams, the first fruits of Hell - but curiously, they seem rather touchy about calling it mad. How silly, how Surface to worry about something so silly - why, down here, madness is even less inconvenient than death!
So the honey flows through London like blood through a beating heart, but be careful before you tip a spoonful past your lips - the bohemians of the Neath have so many words for honey, but not one of them is safe.
singin' in the rain, cathy/cosmo/don, only one bed
It's a natural transposition - back in their vaudeville days Don and Cosmo shared a bed so many times they never even bothered to count the number, and Kathy and Don have wound up in the same bed so many times since their engagement and certainly will continue to do so upon their marriage, therefore...
When the hotel concierge apologizes for the lack of rooms and offers a trundle bed for Mr. Brown, it doesn't even occur to any of them to do anything but airily dismiss the offer and suggest they'll find some other arrangement. And they do find it, stripped of all defenses and carefully-tailored studio-provided clothes, their limbs all tangled in each others' as they joke about how nice it is, that they found a bed big enough for three.
any, any, AU where twins can feel each other’s pain - ASOIAF, Jaime/Cersei pre-canon
Cersei revels in the pain of Jaime's wounds, all his training exercises and his battles, the sweet sting of the Sword of the Morning knighting Jaime by delicately slicing her brother's shoulder with the most beautiful sword in the world.
She savors knowing that Jaime knows her aches, too - she spares him none of it, not her nights with Robert Baratheon (Jaime would never have liked him, but oh, how he hates him now), not her struggles as she bears their children, not her teeth sinking into his collarbone when he takes her against a wall.
One twin will press on old bruises from the others' fingertips, and the other will pinch right where they know the other is wounded - if love is poison, then Cersei will gladly drink this poison down every time, and know that Jaime will ache and burn with it just as much as she does.
Any, any mother who we don’t meet in canon, who was she? - ASOIAF, Minisa Whent
Minisa went to the Isle of Faces only once. Everyone had warned her against it, and she ignored them anyway, stealing a boat and rowing out to the Isle, kneeling before gods she doesn't know and praying that they can help her make sense of all the strange lurching feelings inside her when her own gods can't, curling up at the foot of a weeping weirwood with her own blood soaking into its roots, and dreaming -
Everyone notes how very tranquil she is when she returns from the Isle - so very calm and pliant, for a mad daughter of the mad Whents of Harrenhal - and when she's wed to Hoster Tully and bears children she knows she'll never live to see grown, she tries to teach them everything she knows, everything to keep them safe in the endless night she sees coming.
any, any female character, haunted by everyone she couldn't save - Star Wars, Leia
Tarkin was never going to spare Alderaan - she knows this, knows the Empire has no concept of mercy as anything but a sick joke and she owes them no mercy in turn, certainly no guilt of her own for what they've done to her planet, her people. She knows this.
It doesn't help late in the night cycle, when she's back on the Death Star over and over, scrabbling helplessly for any answer that might have saved them, the impossible words hanging somewhere just past the tip of her tongue.
any, any, stuck in the elevator - Rogue One, Jyn
The lift jolts to a stop about halfway down, throwing Jyn headlong into Cassian as all the lights crackle out; they assess the situation to each other in breathless sentence fragments, okay? and think and found and maybe, maybe.
Maybe they've been caught or maybe the attack is going better than she thinks and maybe the base is falling apart around them, Jyn doesn't really care at this point - she's still drunk on the relief of success, like she wants to sleep for a thousand years and bounce off the lift walls, all at once.
Most of all - as she wracks her head for she knows about hot-wiring lifts, Cassian slipping into place right beside her - she knows that, however likely it is they're about to die in this damn lift (it's likely, it's very likely), she's going to claw out every millisecond of life that she can.
any, any/any, weapons maintenance as together time - Star Wars, Han/Leia
"That looks like it's coming along pretty good," Hans says. He's making this up, of course - he's not any kind of expert on what lightsabers are supposed to look like, and even less so when they're currently spread out in pieces on a sheet right next to his workspace - but Leia takes it well enough, letting out a huff of breath so amused Han might almost call it affectionate, and turns back to fixing up her lightsaber even while Han gets to running diagnostics on that little list in the targeting system of the Falcon's dorsal laser cannon.
It's rare that Han and Leia can spend any time together completely quiet - they're both too restless for that - but it's nice, really, and when he absentmindly asks her to pass the hydrospanner and she levitates it right into his hand, he catches her proud and knowing eyes and can't help his smile in return.
Stardew Valley, Sandy, no place like home
Where else is she going to see sunsets like this, creatures like this, cacti like this? Where else is she going to get a chance to hear the wind whipping through a dragon's sun-bleached bones?
She's heard of the excitement of Zuzu City, and Emily's told her over and over of the charms of Stardew Valley...but this is where the life she's built is, and for her, there's no place like home.
Stardew Valley, Marnie/Marlon, swept off his/her feet
Marlon's faced all sorts of danger in his time, but even he admits it's a first when he's faced, weaponless, with a giant herd of angry, stampeding cows.
And when Marnie effortlessly drags him over and hauls him up the fence and out of harm's way, when she carelessly dusts off her hands like the whole adventure was nothing and hits him with a grin that strikes him right in the heart - well, that's something of a first for him, too.
She has her business to attend to and he has his (she's had her loves before, and he's had his) but she still lingers in his head, and he wonders just how many firsts they could have together if they only took the chance.
