Dear Yoda,
Thank you so much for creating for me! I'm really excited to see what everyone comes up with for this exchange, and I hope you have a wonderful time with it.
I'm familiar with various aspects of both the Disney canon universe and the Legends universe, supplemented by spending way too much time on Wookiepedia. Feel free to draw on whatever version of canon you want and to mix them together (or to invent all-new worldbuilding aspects) if it makes sense for what you're creating! Don't worry about what I might or might not have seen/read; I like going down wiki rabbit holes and I don't care about spoilers.
Prompts are in this letter if you want them, but I'll be happy with anything that respects my DNWS. You can also click on my Star Wars tag to see what I've requested for past exchanges - I'm happy to get anything based on my past prompts, as well as for any promptfills I've written!
If you have any questions about this letter, please contact me through the mods. I'm also sincereously on AO3. Click any lines that are bolded+underlined to expand!
General Fic Likes:
Worldbuilding (especially religious and cultural worldbuilding)
Weird Force things, and exploring what it's like to be Force-sensitive and use the Force more generally
Unusual formats, including in-universe documents, maps and interactive fiction
Deep dives into mundane aspects of living in a fictional world
Canon divergence
Outsider POV
Dramatic irony
Moments of quiet intimacy during breaks in the action (especially good for missing scenes in between what we see in canon)
Complicated women, and complicated relationships between complicated women
Slowly building intimacy/respect together - slow burn in general
Taking care of injured people
Forced proximity (undercover together, trapped together, accidental/arranged marriage, fake dating, only one bed, etc.)
Elaborate plans that may or may not work out
Improvising new plans as you go along
"That's an extremely bad plan, of course I'm in" type situations and interpersonal dynamics
Getting in way over your head but throwing yourself headfirst into the plan anyway
Repressed characters learning to let go
Struggling against temptation/the Dark Side
Mind control/possession (and resisting mind control/possession)
Five + one things structure
General Art Likes
I love a wide range of art styles, so I don't have much of a preference there. For art-specific prompts:
Characters using weapons - lightsaber, blaster, vibroblade, lightwhip, whatever you want!
Dark Side versions of canonically "light" characters, particularly takes on Empress Padmé and/or Sith Empress Leia, possibly with their most loyal companions by their side.
Depictions of clothing and hairstyle designs and in-universe fashion trends.
Black-and-white or greyscale with pops of color
Light - from warm glows illuminating the whole space to chiaroscuro
General DNWs:
Character bashing
Canon-divergent death of requested characters (canonical deaths are fine)
Non-canonical child death
Setting change AUs (ex. coffeeshop, high school, modern AU, etc.)
Time travel AUs
Explicitly stated sexuality labels for characters whose sexuality is not canonically defined
Formalized dom/sub relationships
Ageplay
Raceplay
Omegaverse
Mpreg
Excretory kinks
Rape/noncon (dubcon - sex pollen with both/all characters dosed, sex in arranged marriages, fuck-or-die, etc. - are fine, as are references to canonical rape/noncon)
Underage under 15 and unrequested non-canonical ships with 20+ year age gaps (mentions of canon examples of both are fine, but please don't make them the focus of the fic)
Cross-gen incest
Animal abuse
Hopeless endings (endings can be dark, but not without any shred of hope)
Fic or art set after a child of Han and Leia (either Ben or Jacen) canonically falls to the Dark Side
For both fic and art, please keep the level of violence at about what it is in canon.
Again, these are here if you want them, but please feel free to pursue other ideas if the idea won't let you go. I'm also perfectly happy with combining ships and prompts where it makes sense to do so.
General Prompts
For all my requests, I don't necessarily have many request-specific ideas as much as general scenarios or prompts that could apply to most of them. Any prompts that primarily focus on a particular requested pairing or group will be noted, but please don't assume that I want those requests more than any of the others - I love them all!
As a note, if you're writing Leia/Luke/Han or Leia/Lando/Han I'm happy with it both as a full triad or as a Han-centric V, depending on your preferences. I also like Han/Lando (though I didn't request it here) and am totally fine with bringing it up as a past relationship in any fic involving them.
- Missionfic and other adventure stories!
----Are they hunting a MacGuffin? Do they have to go undercover, and how well do any of them do at that? What goes right in the mission, and what goes horribly wrong, and how do they get the mission back on track?
----Alternatively, is this a situation where they might not be on the same side (Rebel vs. Imperial, Rebel vs. smuggler or neutral just trying to make their own way) and have to improvise a way to work together and get what they both want while learning to trust each other?
----If you're interested in interactive fiction/Choose Your Own Adventure, I'd love to see it!
- Canon-typical missing scene type moments:
----Jedi training for Force-sensitive characters. Luke and Leia and Mara all have very different relationships and approaches to the Force - where to they find commonalities and where do they conflict? How do Leia and/or Mara respond to the way Luke tries to teach? I also love Leia and/or Mara teaching or working with each other or with Luke on the Force.
----Anything about the time period in between ANH and ESB, where Leia is grieving her planet and Luke is adjusting to commanding a squadron and Han is insisting that no, really, he's going to leave any day now. Meanwhile, Lando and Karrde are continuing to build up their respective enterprises (and maybe in an AU, he has to turn to the Rebellion and/or to each other for help long before ESB?), and Mara is dealing with internal Imperial politics after a major blow to the Empire and itching to find the Rebels and strike back at them.
- Canon-divergence AUs, including but not limited to:
----One or both twins are raised by Vader as his Sith-apprentice(s): do one or both of them ever try to get to the Rebellion, or do they go on their own mission to take down the Empire from the inside? Do either of them ever try to ally with the Emperor's Hand?
----Empress Padmé AU: does she raise one or both of the twins as her heirs? Does she bring Mara in as a Hand (maybe to raise alongside her child/ren), or recruit Han or Lando or Talon Karrde for their skills and bring them into contact with the others that way? How do these characters fit in (or not) under her rule, and do they ever try to work around or against it?
----Alderaan is not destroyed: I'm very here for the political fallout, as well as for Queen Leia stories and explorations into how she sees herself as an Organa and ruler of Alderaan.
- If you want to go in a sillier direction, I love the Star Wars crossover episode of The Muppet Show and would be thrilled to see another reunion between Star Wars characters and Muppets.
- Any of the other prompts, but in the style of an after-the-fact mission report or other Rebellion internal communication. Maybe every member of the mission has a conflicting story about what exactly happened? Maybe it's all the requisition and order forms Han filled out trying to get new parts every time something on the Falcon stops working?
Relationship-Specific Prompts
- (Leia & Luke) Anything that goes into their Force connection - feeling it before they realize what it is (maybe showing up in each other's dreams, or as each other's "imaginary friends" as small children) or using it to better learn how to use the Force and understand each other after they know. Also, Leia sharing her memories of Padmé with Luke.
- (Leia & Luke & Han or Leia/Luke/Han) I always see Han as being just a little weirded out by the whole Force thing, no matter how long he knows Luke and Leia. How does he handle both of their growing powers, and how does it change their relationships?
- (Lando/Leia/Luke/Han) I've also requested this ship for a sedoretu exchange, and I still really love the idea of them + sedoretu dynamics and worldbuilding. (My letter for that exchange is here, if you're interested in that).
- (Leia/Han or Lando/Leia/Han) They manage to keep Han from getting frozen in carbonite, but Luke is captured instead. How do they work together to save him and keep the Rebellion running while also grappling with their feelings for one another?
- (Leia/Han or Lando/Leia/Han) In ROTJ, they have a lot of time to come to an understanding about their relationship on the way from Tatooine back to the fleet - or just celebrate getting Han back.
- (Mara/Leia) It seems very likely that they would have run into each other at some point before ANH, even if Leia didn't know Mara's true position within the Empire. What were their interactions like during that time period? Later on, could Leia have recognized undercover!Mara while she was trapped at Jabba's palace, and how might that have changed the outcome or aftermath of that?
- (Mara/Luke) Mara is one of the few people who can tell him about his father, and in return Luke offers to help Mara find more about her own long-lost family.
- (Lando/Talon) They always struck me as having a good deal in common - practical men of business with an understated (but real) sense of principles. What kind of dealings could they work together? Could they find a good rapport - for business, of course - that turns to more?
- (C-3PO & R2-D2, C-3PO/R2-D2) They're always on the edge of whatever drama is happening among the main characters, and I'd love the opportunity to see them at center stage! Anything with their own POV on the events of the movies would be great, or maybe an exploration of their lives in between the prequels and the original trilogy? Maybe Threepio and Artoo go on their own mission for the Rebellion!
- (C-3PO & K-2SO & R2-D2) First off, the potential personality clashes are incredibly funny to me and I just love the idea of these three interacting together. Secondly, there's really good story potential from a Kaytoo-lives AU where they're all finding their place as droids in the Rebellion together (potentially an especially heartbreaking one if Kaytoo was the only survivor).
- (C-3PO & R2-D2 & Darth Vader) There's just a lot of potential for comedy and drama and dramatic irony here. How could the droids come into Vader's possession - capture, being bought, maybe they never left Vader's service in the first place? How do they handle life behind Imperial lines, and what sort of tasks does Vader ask of them? How does Vader relate to them, as Vader and as the memory of Anakin?
Jocasta Nu
- Jedi librarian and archivist! Jocasta's so cool, and I love her dedication to her profession and to the Jedi Order. What would her typical work day be like? Cataloguing, reference requests, teaching padawans how to use the library services? Any Jedi library science is great.
- One of the deleted scenes had Jocasta call Dooku "one of the most brilliant Jedi" and indicated a lot of personal respect. It also seems pretty likely that they were both training to be Jedi at around the same time. It'd be great to see anything for their relationship, platonically or romantically - going on a mission together, working on a research project together, sparring, etc.
- Jocasta escapes in the aftermath of Order 66 and continues her mission to safeguard the Order's knowledge and protect the list of Force-sensitive children.
Thank you so much for creating for me! I'm really excited to see what everyone comes up with for this exchange, and I hope you have a wonderful time with it.
